Base model Nissan Frontier S, they’re all over for like $14K with less than 30K miles on em. I-4 motors good for a whopping 152hp, manual windows and doors, maybe a CD player, and AC. Same thing in a Tacoma? $20K or more. Canyonrados? Same.

I need something to commute in, and to do truck things once in a while as I will be remodeling my house for the rest of my life and need to go to Home Depot every weekend. I don’t need to tow anything, or win races, but I can drift ANYTHING, so I can still Oppo when I feel the need. Probably going with an auto transmission just because traffic is atrocious...

The good news in all of this is that my wife insists I keep the Blazer and keep building it as a weekend toy and eventual first car for my son when he turns 16 in two years...

Congratulations maybe? Can you not find a pathfinder? R50 die hard and should be able to carry a good deal of HD stuff..

My Dad followed the idea that his new Sentra was 2/3 the price of the same Corolla - after the new car feeling wore off he was just stuck with a Nissan..

Why do I suddenly want a Frontier again?

The last decent truck they made was the Hardbody.

I don’t want an SUV. I don’t mind being “stuck with a Nissan”, as it’s literally just my commuter and supply run vehicle.  All the fun happens in the K5!

I really don’t mind gutless, what I like about the Frontier is that it’s a dirt cheap pickup truck that will be a commuter with a little bit of truckability, in an almost ancient platform that has all of the bugs worked out. Buying a little truck for $14k and knowing that it will run ten years and 200K miles with nothing but oil changes, and I’ll likely still get some of my money back when I sell it off!

Plus, to be honest, my wife was super pissed that I bought the Blazer, and is super pissed that it needs a new motor. I may have been a bit impulsive when I bought a 1985 K5 as my DD, lol. So she has given me the blessing to buy a DD, but she want s it cheap and dependable. I could get a V6 model, but now were talking about a truck with 50-80K miles on it. I don’t mind a vehicle with 20K on it, as even if the first owner didn’t do ANYTHING maintenance wise, it’s new enough to be ok. If the first owner went 80K and didn’t take care of it, it could give me a problem while I’m still paying it off and I don’t like that at all...

Go for it! I have a deep appreciation for brutally honest trucks such as the four cylinder frontier
